Evinrude 1969 85HP Amplifier question

I have obtained a 1969 85HP evinrude (85993E). In the past someone has modified the stock CD ignition system to a standard points-condenser system of which I am not happy with. I have now been given some working ignition components that came off of a 1970 60 HP evinrude that had a cracked crankcase. What I would like to know is if the amplifier from the 60HP (6CB2001) can be used to replace the amplifier for the 85HP. I believe that the amplifier for the 85 is supposed to be 6CB2004. Any help would be appreciated.
