rebuilding carbs on 73 johnson 65

So I went to take my carbs apart to rebuild because the motor was running like it was loosing power when I throttled it up. So when I took the carbs off and apart the bottom Carb was missing the spring that holds the needle seat. And that is the cylinder that is off by 5 Psi compression. Can that be the reason for the compression to be off?

No that spring is not the cause.

well I had the motor running thinking that the carb's were just dirty... so could I have caused some damage to the motor running it with that one carb like that?
