Evinrude e-tec 90 motor (2007)/propeller issue

I was driving in the other day on my boat and suddenly it revved really high and i had to crawl into dock - as accelerating would raise the revs but no movement. I assumed i had spun a hub. the next day i removed the propeller (a little bit of crap did fall out) and checked it and it appeared to be fine so i tightened it back on, tried the boat and everything seemed to be fine.

any ideas

Is that a single piece hub or one of the modular hub props?

Dumb question. Were you running in any weedy water ??

Im pretty sure it is a single piece hub......the water doesnt tend to be weedy but there can be crap like seaweed, plastic bags etc lying about

nothing everything seems fine.......however it was due a service so im erring on the side of caution, taking the boat out and having a mechanic service the engine and look at the issue (if there is one)

The service is a good idea but did it ever act up again ??

No hasnt acted up again - has been fine since....
