Carb cleaner

Is it safe to use carb cleaner like gum out on marine motors. I have a Johnson 225 1995 2 cycle

Hi Mr. Using carb cleaner is a BIG NO-No in 2-stroke motors of any kind as it strips much needed lubrication from the internal moving parts. Carb cleaner should only be used when cleaning and rebuilding the carb after it has been removed from the motor, never while it is in use.
