What Year is this motor? 28 HP Johnson

Need Help...

I have a leak on my lower unit... Need to get a manual, but I don't know the year. Previous owner painted everything on the motor... can't find any numbers. What year is this motor?

Look for a silver disc with a serial number on the engine block between the coils and the fuel pump. Your OMC dealer should be able to determine the year from that.

The disc was there... the number listed was 3986012.

I don't have a dealer though... Anyone have a way to cross reference this number to find the year?
