Usually the factory puts a a timing decal on the airbox cover. Yes, it's done on cyl #1. Plus or minus 2 degrees. Personally, it would not set it above the factory recommended timing at all. Usually the timing is around 28 degrees on these engines, but you need to set it for the decal timing or that found in the factory service manual. The timing tends to creep up as the rpm's increase while running. The factory recommends that the max timing be set at 5000 rpm's to compensate for the timing creep.
