rebult carb. set points trying to set timing cant getit to slow idel heard that this is controled by the advance?

There is a synch procedure. If it is the same as on my '59 Fat Fifty, set the timing marks on flywheel to match timing marks on block and pull start. Move throttle until timing mark on distributor pully base matches mark on bracket. Timing mark on pully should match mark on pully base. If not timing belt is wrong. At this point, carb roller should be ready to open carb.
