Hello,

I just purchased my first pontoon and Johnson outboard motor (model #J25TECTE) last week. It starts and runs fairly well, but the other day the battery was dead when I tried to start it. I still need to go get the battery tested, but I have some questions about whether the rectifier and stator are working properly.

I cleaned off the battery terminals and inspected all of the important wiring. All checked out with low resistance on the DMM. I have a 4 wire rectifier, and the 3 yellow wires from the stator all read about 9 volts AC. When I tested the voltage on the battery earlier, it read 12.35 volts. When I started the motor, the red wire at the recitifier read 12.48 volts. The rectifier voltage seems a bit low to me.

Can someone with experience with this please let me know what you think?
