I have a 1986 Evinrude 150 hp. Had boat out this weekend and all was running well. Then all of a sudden it quit, lost power. Would idle but when i gassed it it would die out. I checked to determine that the primer bulb was flattened out. I am thinking that the fuel filter may be stopped up? I even thought maybe the vent was plugged so I took cap off tank and still same thing.

Is it the filter or could the bulb be bad or could there be another problem. The filter is behind the bulb which leads me to believe its the filter.

Thanks for any input

You say that you checked to determine if the primer bulb was flattened, was it? If it was then that to me means that you have a restriction in the system before the bulb. the theory on that is that the fuel pump moves fuel by creating a vacuum in its diaphram chamber to pull fuel from the tank, if it can't pull any fuel it will collapse the bulb. Was the bulb collapsed?

Sounds like a fuel restriction on the tank side of the bulb or else a bad bulb.

Not unusual for one of the ball valves to go bad in the hose bulb.
