Re installing Core Plugs

I've seen a You Tube video where the plugs are tapped back in place. The manual states to use a certain OMC film to coat the edges, first, to assist sealing.

Anyone want to offer some advice before I head 40 miles round-trip to the "stealer?"

I have used a tiny bit of hard setting permatex from the auto parts store with good success. Dark brown icky stuff, can't get it off my hands.

The sealer is not needed. I started in this line back in 1960 or so and have never used a sealer.... have also never encountered any leakage.

Thanks Guys, and I'm honored that JR took the time to respond. I've read a lot of your posts, but not nearly enough. I've wanted to send you some cash for your personal email so I could get the expert advice.

It's hard not to hijack a thread as there is always someone with a similar problem that you want to add a bit of Q&A, but I don't want to always be asking the same old questions, either.

Finger nail polish also works good for a sealer.
