I finally got my motor repaired, and now I need a battery. They run about $100 +/-, and I saw a post here that said the motor really doesn't need the 650 cca battery I was about to buy. Is it possible I can use a smaller battery and charge it up between uses? The posts were from 2003 so I thought I'd double check and maybe get even more advice. Thanks!!!

I personally like the biggest CCA battery that will fit!

Yeah it would start on a 550, but we are talking about such minor savings I dont feel that it is worth it. The Big Twins like a strong healthy battery, fresh cables and clean shiny connections.

Sorry "Big Twin" is just Outboard slang for a 2 cylinder of larger HP, such as the 30/35 hp motors from the 50s which yours falls under.

I love the Javelins, have quite a few myself. Would love to see a pic if you have one.
