Removing driveshaft on 1989 4hp Johnson deluxe

Hi,

I've removed my lower unit because prop won't turn when engine is in gear and I've discovered that the top of the driveshaft has sheared resulting in 2 questions......

1) How do I access the 'top' part of the drive shaft to remove the broken bits?

2) how do I remove drive shaft from lower unit in order to fit new one???

Any help most welcome!

If the top part is still stuck in the crankshaft, then you'll likely have to pull the powerhead to get at it.

For the lower part, remove the waterpump first and the driveshaft should pull right out.

Thanks for that, I've removed the water pump and the lower half is now free! ...........Now just have to work out how to remove the power head/crankshaft to get the upper bit out! Nightmare!
