The recoil start does not engage to pull start my motor. It appears to be all there. However there are no springs on the dogs that retracts the dogs like other pull starts I have seen. Usually when you pull the rope this should activate the dogs out to grab the flywheel thing. They just swivel in and out with nothing activating them when you pull the rope. I have a feeling I am missing something important because I know they should come out and stay out till you are done pulling the rope which would engage them and disengage them when you let the pull rope recoil back in. I am probably not explaining this very well. I tried to find a pic that shows the recoil start setup to no avail. Sure could use some help.
