I suspect the VRO fuel pump is bad. Coming from the pump is a harness with Blue / Brown / Black wires.
With the 3 wire plug disconnected..... On the engine side of that plug I get voltage to the blue wire during starting. If I apply 12V to the pump side of the blue wire no pumping action. The black wire is grounded. The brown wire goes to the oil tank.
Is the pump bad? Or is there another test to perform? The replacement is $365.00
Thanks

i have an 89 evinrude 110, this is not the answer you are looking for but, when my VRO went out i capped the oil inlet side on the pump and started mixing the fuel.

Do not apply voltage to the VRO pump! The VRO is not an electrical fuel/oil pump, but is powered from pressure/vacuum pulses of the bottom cylinder crankcase. The electrical connections are for the "no oil" alarm only.
What makes you assume the VRO is bad?

When cranking the engine it won't start. If I squeeze the bulb it will start and run.
If I unplug one of the fuel lines, fuel will squirt when squeezing the bulb.
On the engine side of the plug I get 12 volts + when cranking the engine.
So it's a impulse pump?

The diaphragm is bad. When sucking on the impulse nipple it won't hold a vacuum. When blowing in the nipple it wont hold pressure.
We'll be changing that sucka...
The wires are for the oil alarm. Once again working without a manual. One day I'll learn.
