Ordered new plugs for my motor. they are different than the current ones. These have no ground prong. THe motor is a 1995 100 hp vro evinrude the 90* motor and the vro is bypassed. The plugs i was given are NGK plugs BUHXW-1 with no ground prong the ones i had in it were champion plugs and did have the ground prong. Any thoughts? I tried searching on here and couldn't find anything. Thanks

Do they look like this?

That's called a surface gap plug. No gap to set!

The correct plug for your mtr is Champion QL78YC. The surface gaps will work but they will foul sooner.

I see no issue. If I recall the surface gap plug was developed for OMC engines.

Years ago it was on certain mtrs but the newer ones require the QL78YC's.

Surface gap plugs work great if you have two speeds. WOT and off, other than that they will not last long as they are very prone to fouling if you do any sort of idling or trolling.

That is true, but who runs WOT all the time except if you're racing or something. Or maybe a bass fisherman.
