I'm finally done working on my V4, moving on to a old Evinrude 6hp I just bought, to use as a kicker/troller.

The shift lever is broke, I got a omc manual off ebay--but no mention of this lever, or how to take it apart. I'm thinking of trying to drill a hole through, just behind where it broke off. Then tap the hole and leave a short Rod pointing downward as a handle/lever.

Has anyone done this type of "sudo-repair" on a broken shift handle? I'm almost ready to fish and didnt need to spend alot of time on this lever handle. Other than that it runs great.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

If you pull the power head it will expose the retainer that holds the shifter on. Not as hard to repair as it sounds.

Really, not that hard?...Hmm. Looking in the manual now to see if a power-head pull is fairly descriptive.

Thanks
