Hi,
i have a 1998 johnson 15h 2 stroke and i have removed the bottom leg and wanted to know how to reconnect the gear linkage.
I have already reconnected it once but when i went to change the gears they were in the wrong position.
So i need to get the linkage set in the right position before re-assmbling. The gap between the two casings only leaves a 15mm gap to re connect.
Can anyone help on this matter please.
Thanks.

Welcome to iboats, the guys here are great providing newcomers (& some of the oldsters also) information.

You need to shift the lever into reverse, which pushes the shifting rod lower allowing more room to re-connect the linkage. You probably do not have the rod you took off deep enough in the connector block. Remove the cross clamp bolt, get the rod all the way into the connector block so that you can see thru the bolt hole & visually see that the rod is all the way in, (not the end blocking the threaded hole). Then reinsert the bolt & try that.
