My 1983 Johnson 50 hp tiller has a dead kill switch. I had to disconnect gas line to stop the engine. The kill switch is a button on the end of the throttle arm. Is taking apart the throttle where I should begin looking for the problem? Anybody have some advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Dead Kill Switch

While I have no specific experience with this I sure wouldn't go tearing the arm apart until I'd checked for continuity in the kill switch wires.

X2 on the continuity test.
I had one of these switches go bad on my 1987 8hp Johnson last year, the OE replacement was too expensive so I just bought a momentary switch at the hardware store, it was an $8.00 fix.
