Hi folks, hoping somebody can help me with my 9.9 Johnson. I am replacing one of the coils and was wondering if their was a backyard mechanic way to insert the coil wire into the amphenol connection using something else besides the amphenol insertion tool. I went online and a set runs from 60-100 dollars and there is no way I can justify the cost. Just hoping someone can tell me how to fashion a homemade tool. Thanks for the help.

take a spike and push out one pine in ruber conecor, on cable that leads to coil you want to change,
just push out,
take a new coil cable and push buck int hole left in rubber conector
and its all

Re: 9.9 Johnson coil connection question

as racze says, push it out, insert new one..I've used the head of a nail to push out and needle nosed pliars to reinsert and pull the pin into place...rubbing alcohol in the amphenol plug helps lubricate this operation then it evaporates quickly....just insure the new pin gets to the same depth as the old one so it fits tightly into its socket
