2005 johnson 2 stroke...idles fine no power when i put it gear

my boat has set for severalmonths.... fianally got it started after draining the fuel out of both carbs...put in fresh fuel..starts right up but when i put in gear it does not have any power to speaak of at all..wont even get to 3000 rpms.i have noticed that the pprimer ball seems to be soft while its running... dont know if that has anything to do with it or not...any ideas?

Sounds like it's running on one cyl. Check your compression and then your spark with an open air gap spark tester. Should jump a 7/16 " air gap. If it passes those tests, look at your carbs for dirty high speed jets.
