One of the kill switch wires for my pull start '85 Johnson 15hp are badly chewed up and need to be replaced. I just need to splice in a section of wire but do not know if there is a specific size/type that I need. It appears I would need to replace the whole assembly to resolve this minor issue. Any advice? Thanks.

I can't tell you the gauge of the wire, but suggest just taking the switch out including the wires and matching it at radio shack,HD, Lowes, any hardware store or small engine repair place. That wire just grounds the powerpack's "innards" when pushed in. If I knew exactly which internal circuit it grounds, I'd tell you. Anyway, one wire is mounted with a screw and the other one has a pin end that needs to be pushed out of the amphenol plug that it's inserted into. The swtich mount itself is simple to figure out. Marineengine.com has a diagram of this under the ignition section for your year and horsepower.
