Starting to rebuild my carbs on my 89 120hp
I need to soak the carb bowls bottoms full of black goo
What would be the best carb cleaner as not to melt the plastis since the whole carb body is plastic

Thankks

I'm sure more knowledgeable people will chime in here but i've always had good luck with sea foam i'd swear by the stuff .

All the carbs I work on are not plastic, but Seafoam, OMC Engine Tuner and I recently have read about PineSol working. Although Im not so sure that Pine Sol would be effective against a real build up.

I've always used OMC Engine Tuner and it won't hurt the carbs if you happen to forget them in it.

I let mine soak, then clean with soap and water, then blast out and dry with compressed air.

I can attest that Pine Sol does indeed work. I use it 50/50 with warm water. I soaked a cylinder head from my 72 6 HP rebuild. I left it overnight and it turned out good. Very little carbon gunk left, and a light scrubbing took care of that. The Pine Sol water mixture looked nasty though. One thing I kept reading though is that you have to use the original Pine Sol (it has pine oil), and not the lemon scented or imitations.
