anyone know the weight of a long shaft johnson 8 hp? this model is an mid 80s sailmaster.

Being former colonists here in the States, we tend to prefer Church of England measurements to Roman Catholic :) Sounds like it weighs about 60 lbs., or 4.3 stone :) I can't believe they still use crazy, old timey standards for weights and measures like "stone" in Britain. Then again they have about 45 different coins, so I guess it's not that weird. Anyone got a farthing, or a couple 'a quid they can spare? :)

I have a 15 hp outboard...that weighs the same as a 9.9 hp outboard.... if i was thinking of getting a lighter motor, but still get soemthing with power...i was considering the 8 hp... but it only weighs about 10 lbs less than a simialr shaft 9.9-15hp!!

its not worth giving up double the HP to save 10 lbs...so Ill just use the 15 hp outboard.
