I had a 40 hp 1970 comp. test was 118 and 120 this was done cold?

Curious if these were good numbers, thought they were till I seen an add on C-List calling out 140,s and 135,s.

It would be unusual to be any better, smevil. The important number is the difference being less that 10%. PSI numbers are irrelevant, too many variables and too much obsession about psi.

They are close and it was cold so they should go to 130 hot, I wouldn't worry, certainly in the ball park.

Good points above, get your own compession gauge and only use it then you will know if there si a change it is the engine and not the gauge and alt of times a good decarb will raise your numbers.
