Your description points to a carb problem. How (in detail) did you rebuild the carbs?

I hate to tell you this but maybe you should re-check your carb work. Are the floats set properly ? Do you have any pinched fuel lines or air leaks ? Really sounds like a fuel prob.

Sounds like your float levels are off a bit. Too much fuel in the bowls.

did you set the floats level or with the edge of the float higher than the backside. Level and they'll flood if you look at them wrong.

You have been given some good advice from the other guys so far. I read about you saying there is a lot of gas coming from the exhaust ?? however just for the heck of it have you checked the fuel pump output ?? It's quick and easy and how about the gas itself ???? is it old ???

Do you have the OMC (not seloc or other) model year specific factory service manual for the motor? If not you should ebay one. It sounds like your carb linkages need to be synchronized. If you've got one set of butterflies closed while another is opening you'd run into problems with one side running super rich and one side leaned out.

Idle timing?
