Re: remote control hook up on Johnson 10 HP

Hi spudzter32. Welcome to iboats. I used to have a '61 QD-22 short shaft. Here are some great links that can show you how to hook up controls and give it an overall tune up. Check aomic.org, ebay and here in the forums for vintage controls. You'll basically need a control box with a shift and throttle lever, 2 (new) cables which are identical save for the lever they atact to in the control box and the fitting that goes on the motor end. You'll also need an adapter for each cable. One for the throttle, one for the shift. That's really it for controls, however you'll need steering too. You can go with the vintage cable and pulley set up, or a more modern rotary style sterring system. I'll put some links below for both. Controls aren't very hard to hook up, but the price can add up so take your time and try to find the best deals you can.
