!976 Jonhson 15hp outboard

Last fall i bought a Johnson 15hp outboard motor with an electric start. I have pull started the motor once and then broke the pull start parts and have yet to find replacements for the cup. I now have it hooked up to a battery but still have no turn of the motor any ideas?

Got the key in the handle to start it? Solenoid may be bad? Do you have power to the starter?

motor has lock to prevent staring while gear(forward and neutral) is on.

so put on neutral

take out cover, on the flywhell is a nothe oround, take a rope hook the rope to hook on the edge of fly and pul the rope

Johny, there is no key or solenoid on this motor. There is a interlock switch reaward of the carb that interacts with the timing plate so it will not allow the starter button to be energized if it is in gear.
