switch from side mount with key to top mount control box

I have a 2000 18' hydrasport center console i just bought with a 94 johnson 120. The center console has a side mount control box with the ignition as part of the unit on the left side of the console. I am looking to switch it to a top mount control box on the right side of the wheel being that i am right handed.

Two questions:
Does it matter what brand of control box i get, or is any common brand convertible? and
If i switch to the top mount, where would the new ignition location be.

I think you are referring to a Binnacle mount control. They are available with the ignition switch mounted in the housing. You need one that will match your motor and fit the console and complete with the electrical cable and plug. Not all controls are equal. I recently sold a good used one and you may find one on Ebay.
