1994 25hp evinrude wires?

I have a 25hp 1994 evinrude, there are 3 wires that come from under the flywheel and out through the engine cover via a gromet, unfortunately the previous owner just cut these wires and left them hanging so I am unsure what they are for and what they should be connected to. There are 3 wires in total, one is yellow, one is yellow with grey stripe and the third is yellow with a blue stripe.

Any information would be gratefuly recieved.

They go to the rectifier.

I thought as much but seeing as there was a good lengh of cable (a good meter) the previous owner must have had the rectifier fitted outside of the outboard somewhere.

Will the engine still run without these cables connected?

Yes but you won't be charging the battery.
