Hi folks, I have a 1984 evinrude super 40 that I want to make electric start. It's model# E40RWCRA. I need to know what years of flywheel and starter will interchange to complete this. Thanks, Roy.

I stated with the flywheel first. This is what I found that will work. Is there any year or HP I left out?
84- only 40 HP.
85- 40,50,55 and 60.
86- 40,45,50 and 55
87- 35,40,45 and 50
88- 40,45 and 50... Thanks, Roy

FYI. A couple sites will help you out. "Boats dot net" has a pretty good search engine, which will help you cross reference part numbers on different motors. Also, I find marineengine helpful in seeing the part history (i.e. old part# and superseded part#). Hope this helps.

Re: 1984 Evinrude Super 40?'s

Thank you Jasper. Boatsdotnet was where I've been looking. I think I'm in over my head on this one. I was told that none of the years I found would work. The guy told me that the crankshaft was different on this motor. He said I would need an older flywheel, but they wouldn't work either because of the cdi pack. Can somebody tell me if I can even make this motor an electric start? I'm lost right now... Thanks, Roy

Will the flywheel on a 1976 model # 40604R work on my 84? Mine looks the same except for the gears... Thanks, Roy.
