Water pump repair kit questions for 18202R (1972 18HP Evinrude)

Water pump repair kit part # 382458 or 382468 (The numbers are blurred, cannot tell the correct number.)

So what is the difference between the above kit contents and the 382474 chrome pump kit?

Is the chrome pump kit better? Does it last longer?

Someone please shed some light on this.

The standard water pump housing is made from aluminum. The chrome pump has a brass housing, hard chrome plated. It is for use in muddy, gritty water that would quickly wear the aluminum housing. Of course it would work in clean water too.

Seems I'm not seeing alot of these water pumps available in chrome or aluminum...?

I broke out the magnifying glass, 382458 is the correct part number according to the parts list... is there a new number for this part?

382468 is the OE kit with the standard housing, AFAIK... 18-3377 is the service kit with impeller and rub plate only (no housing).
