I ordered a couple 307551 plug/washers, but was
a little surprised when I received a socket head screw.
Boats.net says the OEM slotted head screw is obsolete.
The manufacturer superseded the part with a socket
head screw.
Has anyone else encountered this when ordering the OEM part?
Can you still get slotted head screws from Sierra?

First I've heard of it, but it sounds like a welcome improvement to me. People are always complaining they can't get the slotted screws out (they don't have a proper screwdriver or hand impact).

Now, of course if us restoration guys are insisting on originality, we may want to stock up on old dealer stock.

Or, Sierra # is 18-2387 plug & 18-4248 gasket

Bombardier has been selling that new plug exclusively for at least a year or more. It's an allen head screw.

BRP has used that plug since 2009 on the V-6 engines

Yea, F_R, I agree, it should work out for the best. My slotted screw was stuck when I first got this motor. Bought the impact wrench specifically for that occasion.

With all the junk motors out there, the original style should be available till the world ends. :D:D Anytime I scrap out a motor, I save those anyhow.
