shelvis,
Me thinks you have a plastic key that is triangular in shape (?) with a large flat side.
The flat side will fit adjacent to the drive shaft which should have a mating flat machined in.
The rounded edge of the key will fit in the impeller bore which, I think, has a rounded key way.
I could be wrong.....

In the original sets it used to be 2 keys supplied. One black and one white, one 'big' and one 'small'.

If you can not get it to fit, put it on a piece of sand paper and grind it down on the flat side.

I cant believe I didn't think of that. It worked like a charm!!! If any one else is replacing an impeller, I found the best way was to put the cup on the impeller before the pump housing. The seals stay in place that way.
