Yes, the 3.3hp was infact a Sportwin. Luckily, you have the last model year, where you can still buy ignition parts for it. 1951, is when all OMC motors went to the universal style ignition.

The Fleetwin was the 7.5hp "big brother" to the Sportwin. A lot of similarities in appearance.

The Sportwin was re-introduced in 1956, as a 10hp (Johnson QD in disguise) and this was also the year where Johnson and Evinrude incorporated their whole product line with each other.

Thanks, you guys are the best!

Looking foreward, would it be a good idea to track down a spare set ignition parts right away, before they get really scarce? Or will they be around for a few years yet?

Can't wait to get a mix of 24:1 and test her out!

I would actually run that at 16:1 Those are all bushing type bearings and they need extra oil. If it is infact a '51 model, then you won't have to worry about the ignition parts going obsolete for a long time. All twins and singles used them until about 1974 and there are a huge number of oldies still out there running. You might pull the flywheel and post a pic of the magneto assembly, so we'll know for sure.
