My favorite local hardware store is going out of business. They have piles of Champion CJ6, RCJ6, & RCJ6Y, and some Arnold brand equivalent spark plugs marked way, way down in their lawn and garden clearance section.

I generally use tried and true Champion J6C spark plugs in my menagerie of old OMCs as has been recommended countless times, but the cheapskate in me is intrigued.

Am I mistaken that the CJ6 is has a shorter, stubby profile, but has the same threads, and spark characteristics as a JC6, and they are essentially interchangable? Any reason why the R/Y variants would cause me problems?

Thanks for any insights.

"R" means resistor. Not good

I'm not familar with the "Y" but I think it means extended tip. Not good if it does.

C means chainsaw---as you see it is short and stubby. Might be tapered seat without a gasket, I'm not sure. Boots may not fit, and short insulator is more prone to arcing over if water should get on it.
