Greetings! I am the new owner of a 1984 Johnson 70hp (Model # J70TLCRD). I bought it as a 1983 60hp (it has a "60" cowl), but that's another story.

I'm recent to boat/motor ownership (rebuilding a 1959 Larson All-American) so I have a few questions:

1. What gauges can I attach to this motor system? I live where I have to internet order everything and I don't want to have to return/exchange if I can help it. I know it's good to keep track of your motor, and it's good to use Faria gauges (we picked the Nantucket style) to do so, but I can't find what gauges and how--other than the obvious fuel and speedo.

2. Do any of you have and tips and tricks for me that might save me a headache or two (or three!)? I have had the motor checked thoroughly by a reputable OMC shop, and it passed all tests. It was professionally mounted to the boat with new Teleflex 4.2 rotary steering installed. After that, I'm on my own! (I've seen the great "Top Secret File.")

Thanks,
Chris
