How old is my 4 hp Johnson Sea horse Deluxe

Hi, first time on this forum, so apologies if I am in the wrong place.

I have just bought a retro-looking 4 hp Sea-horse Deluxe, it runs well in the wheelie bin, but it would be nice to know how old it is.

The Mod No: BJ4RDHLCOB and the serial is: B002421

It looks like it was made in Belgium, and is longshaft, but does not have an integral tank.

Any help greatly appreciated, and please feel free to comment, if I have just wasted ?150.

pics would help immensly, but looks like a 1988.....
4BRHCC / 4BRHLCC 1988......rd ropestart deluxe, not sure about the rh tho.
you paid around $300/350? , that dont seem bad if the motor is in nice shape and runs well.

Welcome to iboats.

That "old" Johnny is a Belgium made 1985 model, not even 30 yet. JohnnyRude outboards aren't "old" until they are at least 50. With care she will last another 30.

Descended from the legendary JW series, that is one of the best outboards ever made, by anyone.

......will have to ammend my my info! but only missed it by 3 years.....just a blip in time for an omc! (my 1985 4.5 rude isnt vintage yet???
