Re: 1992 johnson gt venom 200

Well' it's a great engine..Here's the problem..I bought it new in "92" on the new boat and she's always excellerated GREAT; however, now I have to give her a little choke and she still isn't turning up. About 10mph slower. I've replaced the fuel lines up to the squeeze ball. I don't have an engine manual so don't know where the fuel pump is on the engine. Any suggestions???? Should I replace / overhaul the fuel pump, or what???? Thanks

I would start with cleaning the carbs first and foremost and replacing the rest of the fuel lines if the are starting to deteriorate. The fuel pump delivers fuel to the carbs and it sounds like it is doing its job. The carbs mix the fuel and air together to feed the engine. If you have to push the primer in to get it going then the carbs are most likely dirty. You can buy a service manual on ebay, from ken cook or Marine Engine. Wherever you buy from you want the OMC/BRP service manual.
