I have one of these outboards and I am curious what it may be worth. Model#: 12D15B Serial#: 693004

It has been kept out of the weather in my garage since I have owned it. It ran the last time I tried to start it although it has been a few years. Cosmetically it could use a little restoration (see attached photos). But I think it is overall in pretty good condition. Any input would be appreciated.

H noesman98. Welcome to iboats. I think you'll find that prices vary widely based on condition, where you live and the time of year you're trying to sell it. That being said, '57 is about the best/most desirable year for many OMC (Jonson/Evinrude/Gale) motors. Unfortunately, the attachment didn't post. Try it again so we can get a good look. Go NOLES!!!!!!!! 34-0........not too shabby ;)

Running well is worth a lot more...but still not as much as one might think!

Looks like it's a 5-10 hp, right? If it runs ok, I'd say you could get $200-$400. Does it use a two line fuel system with pressure tank, or does it have a single line fuel pump? If it's a two line system and you have the tank, you may be able to get a bit more, but functionality will be key. You'd probably get more if it was a '57 Johnson, but the motors themselves are virtually identical.

It's a 12hp. As far as the line goes, I can't remember. I don't have the original tank.

I would say it's worth $75-$150, unless it had the tank and fuel line connector to go with it. To a person that's really wanting a gale buccaneer, it might go for $200. I think you'd have a hard time getting $300 for it.
The "ran the last time I used it" won't mean much when selling it. Unless it can be demonstrated to run, the kind of person that would be interested in such an old motor, wouldn't pay more than $150.
Just my opinion,

Being a Gale it's quite possible that it has a single line tank setup from the factory. Gale went to a fuel pump much earlier than the flagship brands oddly enough. In which case not having a fuel tank wouldn't be that big a deal.

That old 12hp Buccaneer is pretty much the same design as the old 15hp Fastwin. Good running motors. I did a complete tune up for a guy once on one of these and he turned around and sold it for $400. The Buccaneers with the full shift are equally as good as the Johny/Rudes in those years and most parts are interchangeable. The ols 12hp Sea King (which also was built by Gale) was a direct drive and had the same powerhead as the old 14hp Fastwin, but I think these models were slightly earlier than the Buccaneer posted here.
