Generally 14 footers will take a max HP of 40-60HP. Unless it is some kind of brute boat...

that boat was as I recall only rated for 45 hp so yes 80 hp it too much. Not to mention dangerous but also illegal. If you were to get in an accident your insurance company may walk away and not pay a claim.

aalready took it off...anybody around grand rapids,mi wanna trade me for a smaller one?was a 55hp chysler originally...will have to get some pixs of my boat soon

Some 14 footers were built like bigger boats and have horsepower ratings to match. I had a 14.5 foot rated for 75 hp. The 70 hp evinrude that was on it felt about right when the boat was light and a bit underpowered when loaded.

According to the specifications here and the formula here, the OP's boat should have a 65 hp rating.
