EVINRUDE 2000 VRO PROBLEM w/ pictures

Hi too all,

I am having a problem with my boat and I do not know what it is. First of all I own a Wellcraft 18' Sportman 2000 with a 150hp Evinrude commercial. I notice every time I turn the engine on I hear a horn and the OIL LED turns ON (a red light). If I turn the engine off and back on, it quiets down a bit, and later on starts the same horn with the OIL LED back ON.. Some guys told me VRO problem, but I dont quite know. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Is it the no oil LED or the low oil LED. Low oil LED is the sensor in the tank. If it it the No Oil LED you should be running premix until you determine if it is the no oil sensor, a restriction in the oil line to the engine or VRO2 pump itself.

It is the NO oil LED that turns on. I don't know where to buy the sensor, if that is the problem. How can I determine if it is the sensor or the VRO2 pump?

It is also possible you might have a bad tach, if the lites are in the tach. OMC had probs with them back in those days. Do as Hidef said and run premix till the prob is fixed.

I am new to this. I don't know where to start. How can I check is the sensor is damaged? or if it is the VRO2?

You have to take it to an authorized dealer with factory trained techs, or you can buy the service manual and needed tools and equipment, then learn about the motor so you can work on it yourself.
