Are the two fuel pumps identical? In rebuilding the fuel pumps, I found that the upper pump doesn't have a spring against the diaphram. The lower one does. I'm not talking about the little plastic plunger at the top, but the main spring in the center of the unit. From the looks of it, it would seem to me that both pumps should have this, to operate the diaphram properly, but I wanted to ask the experts.
