Fuel pump + Carb adjusment?

Hey guys,

I have just changed my fuel pump. This is a 1971 Evinrude 100hp. Running on muffs, on idle, It seems like it is running higher rpms/richer, smoking, dropping rpms, and slightly vibrating. Question is, do I have to re-adjust my carbs for the new pump?

Thank you.

Shouldn't have to readjust carbs (not unless they were "adjusted" to compensate for inadequate fuel pressure with the bad pump). The carb floats should be maintaining proper fuel level in the carb bowls, the only way a new pump could cause a problem is if the pressure is too high and is overpowering the float valve.

Hi Metric, I think this is the case. Thank you for the input sir!

It should idle a little high on muffs...around 1000 to 1100rpms
