35hp Evinrude Clutch Dog & Gear

Have a new to me 83- 35 hp rude.
First trip no issues with a light load.
2nd trip the dog starts jumping (heavy load). We came in easy trying to keep it from tearing things up.

The dog is shot, but would like some opinions on the gear.

It looks like pretty normal wear for a nearly 30 year old gear.
Is it salvageable or should I just bite the bullet & put a new gear in?

I'm not quite sure that is the original 35 dog and gear. Think to remember that they were 3-notches?

2 ears in I think 79-83.
I think they were 3 in 84.

Bottom line is anyway that with 2 they will look like your pics sooner or later depending on usage.
Bite the bullet and change both forward and dog.
Some may say to 'resurface', but it will not last.
