71 johnson 9.5 smoking water port

the hole that the cooling water "pees" out of is shotgunning (water is blasting out) and coming out very hot and the engine is getting hot. Seems there is exhaust coming out with the water. Is that normal?

Your engine mixes the exhaust and water and discharges it out of the exhaust hose at the rear. How long since the water pump impeller was replaced, thermostat working properly?

The impeller was replaced recently and it didn't have a thermostat at all but I pulled one out of a 69 that I have for spare parts and put it in. it may be normal to run like that. Water poured on the engine doesn't boil so im guessing the engine isn't getting to hot and the water shooting out is real hot but not scalding. Thanks
