Evinrude outboard obsolete part..Any alternative????

I have a 1972 40 HP Model #40202E. The cover seal (item #206844) is dry rotted and broken. Every parts dealer shows this as obsolete. Is there any alternative to replacing this seal? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
