This is de ja vue. I just got my 48 surging issue solved and now my sons 2000 30hp johnson is doing almost the same thing. I rebuilt the fuel pump (same as my 48) and checked all the hoses for leaks and cleaned the carb. After running just above idle in gear for about 3 mins, somtimes more or less when I give it throttle it starts surging. The strange thing is that if I put it in reverse and give it about half throttle for a short while the problem is gone when I put it back in forward. I can run all day at half of full throttle and never have the problem. It is only after idling does this happen.
I'm also having issues with my 60 mercury tilt/trim not holding I just bought to replace the 48 spl. Can't retire till my boats or good!
