1959 10hp. Evinrude question...

Just picked up the above mentioned motor. Model 10018 s/n 53099.
Might be me, but is there a way to keep the motor in the up tilted position? Can't seem to find the locking pin, if there even is one. I just assumed there would be one cuz there's one on my '61 40hp. Johnson.

Hi knehdn. Take a look at this link. You want to start by moving part #74 to the unlock position, then lift the motor. You can then adjust the tilt by lifting up on part #48 to one of the 4 notches available and moving it to the desired position. Then return engine to starting position and return the latch to the locked position. If you want to tilt the motor any higher than that you may have to tighten up part #55 to increase the tension.

Thank you kfa4303 for the link, but I still don't know how to keep the motor in the up position for beaching and trailering, etc.
