Hi hows it going im having an issue with starting on my boat I have a 1990 johnson 90hp somtimes and more now than before when I try to start the motor I just get a click from the starter. I have a brand new fully charged battery and ive actually tried 2. If i just keep keying the ignition eventually it will turn over I bought a new ignition switch but havent installed yet as i think it isnt the problem as the signal is getting back there as it is clicking. thankyou for all your info.

Your symptoms point to either bad connections and/or bad battery cables. Clean all connections & retry. Note that a cable can look good on the outside and be almost a green mush inside.

I bought one of those for a johnson 115 also listed as 9amp instead of 10. It worked the same as the OEM stator.

if cleaning the connections doesn't work, Check into the solenoid. the disc may be spent.

A new solenoid solved the problem my motor turns over every time you turn the key now. Thankyou very much for your help.
