1997 evinrude 70hp 4 stroke code 5/55 suzuki motor

engine will not exceed 2400 rpm governor should kick in @ 1800 rpm if problem exists. new water pump does not overheat, engine oil full, new plugs, new prop. check engine light stays on. we have checked manual codes they either read 5 or 55 neither are not in service manuel, computer equiptment does not go back to 1997. Any suggesstions on what do try next? also motor starts perfectly and runs w/o knocking purrs like a kitten until 2200-2400 rpm then motor cuts out like running on less than 4 cylinders.

Code 55 suggest computer problem, check connectors, and wires behind the computer. My manual says 3000 rpm limit for defects.
Check fuel pressure.
